Art Therapy
Art Therapy Across Sydney & NSW
Allied Health 2U provides art therapy across Sydney and NSW, using the creative process to support emotional wellbeing, communication, and personal growth. No artistic ability is needed — our art therapists tailor sessions to your goals in a safe, non-judgemental space. Sessions are available through mobile home visits, at school, in the community, or via telehealth.
What does an Art Therapist do?
Art Therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses the creative process of making art to support emotional wellbeing, communication, and personal growth. It can help people explore feelings, manage stress, build coping skills, and strengthen self-awareness in a safe and supportive environment.
Art Therapy is not about artistic ability. You do not need to be “good at art” to benefit. Your therapist may use a range of creative activities to help you express what can be difficult to put into words, and to develop practical strategies that support day-to-day wellbeing.
Art Therapy can be used alongside other supports and may assist with emotional regulation, confidence, relationships, and overall mental health.
Art Therapy can support people of all ages who are navigating emotional, psychological, behavioural, or life challenges. It may be helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, grief, trauma-related difficulties, relationship or family challenges, and self-esteem concerns.
Art Therapy may also support people living with disability, neurodivergence, chronic health conditions, or communication difficulties—particularly when talking-based approaches are challenging. Through a creative and therapeutic process, individuals can express emotions, process experiences, and build skills that support improved wellbeing.
Art Therapy Techniques and Approaches
Art Therapists use a range of creative methods and evidence-informed therapeutic approaches to support emotional expression, regulation, and personal development. Sessions are tailored to the individual’s goals, preferences, and needs, and are delivered in a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space.
Common activities may include drawing, painting, collage, clay work, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed-media projects. These processes can help people explore thoughts and emotions, strengthen coping strategies, improve confidence, and support communication, especially for individuals who find it difficult to express themselves using words alone.
